Zubeen Garg's Last Rites: Assam CM, family and fans attend the singer's funeral (X/TIN)

Zubeen Garg's Last Rites: Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg's funeral was held today in Assam today. After the singer's demise, his second  post-mortem was conducted today at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Notably, Zubeen's funeral took place at Kamarkuchi in Sonapur.

His final journey witnessed a large sea of fans. Along with it several political leaders, and celebrities gathered over their to pay their last respects to the  Assamese singer. Notably, the singer died suddenly died on September 19, in a tragic swimming accident in Singapore.

What was Zubeen's last wish?

Zubeen in his old interview, expressed his deep affection for his homeland. He said, "It's a wonderful place. One of the best places. I'll live there and die there. They should burn me there. Or drown me in the Brahmaputra. I'm a soldier. I'm like Rambo."

He expressed his final wish, stating that he wanted his body to be cremated on the banks of the river Brahmaputra or that his last remains be immersed in the river. He also spoke about his life and legacy, saying, "I'm crazy. I want to give everything I have to people, not to myself. I'm happy here. I have my own studio, this is my home."

Zubeen is known for bringing Assamese music to national recognition. He rose to fame in Bollywood with his song "Ya Ali" in the film "Gangster" (2006). He was called as the "king of humming." Zubeen, died in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday.
